Tabitha Lewis, soprano, is in demand as a professional chorister, singing with the Artefact Ensemble, the Clarion Choir, Conspirare, the Philadelphia Chorale, and the St. Tikhon Choir. Her operatic credits include Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazons, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Josephine in HMS Pinafore, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Lily in The Secret Garden, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance.Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Lily in The Secret Garden, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance.Other concert work includes Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Paukenmesse, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and Libby Larsen’s Sonnets from the Portuguese. One favorite concert was Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass under the baton of the late Joseph Flummerfelt.
A frequent collaborator with composers, Tabitha premiered Juliana Hall’s When the South Wind Sings (subsequently the subject of her dissertation) in June 2017 at SongFest, where she was the recipient of the Marc and Eva Stern Fellowship. She has worked with composers Libby Larsen, Benedict Sheehan, Mark Carlson, and has premiered works for Chris LaRosa, Matthew Recio, and Corey K. Rubin.
Lewis earned her Doctor of Music and Master of Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and her Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music (Wheaton, Ill). Her primary teachers are Heidi Grant Murphy and Carolyn Hart.
She enjoys collaborating with her husband, conductor and baritone, Caleb Lewis.
